HISTORY |
| Freeport Technologies, Inc. was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia in May 1995. Freeport was founded with the vision of developing and exploiting new technologies for the coming convergence of voice, data, and video in the enterprise. Freeport recognized that organizations typically build conference rooms or conference centers with a combination of various presentation and conferencing technologies based on the design of an Audio/Visual (AV) consultant, who does not build rooms, and the implementation of that design by an AV integrator, who did not design it. This approach resulted in a collection of one-of-a-kind rooms throughout an organization that were not supportable because of their uniqueness. Freeport sought to significantly change this approach by taking the most complex conference center that it had ever designed and built and developed a standard set of hardware, a standard system operating software, and user interface software that would be capable of operating all systems throughout an enterprise, regardless of room configuration, and that would present a system to the user that was independent of particular brands or models of system components. This “Room-Centric” approach provides a reproducible template upon which all AV rooms, no matter the size or complexity, are based. Based on this Room-Centric approach, Freeport has developed Collaborative Conferencing Systems that can be built into boardrooms or installed as standalone “Drop-In” units with the same functionality as the built-in systems. Freeport’s systems and services allow a customer to fully integrate all of its conferencing, collaboration, and presentation technologies (e.g. video, audio, and web-based conferencing, PowerPoint presentations, document collaboration, DVD/VCR, document camera, video recording, multicast video streaming, DSS/Cable TV) into a single, easy to use, enterprise-wide system that can be monitored, managed, tested, and scheduled from a central location. In 2004, Freeport moved to a larger facility in Herndon, VA. The new facility has several demonstration rooms that incorporate all of the technologies that we have integrated into our customer’s systems. We believe in using and fully understanding all of the technology we sell. Freeport has a significant investment in our in-house systems and in the development of our unique software products. Freeport has become certified as a Value Added Reseller for Cisco, Tandberg, Polycom, AMX, Radvision, StarBak, and ClearOne. Also in 2004, Freeport became certified as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned small business (SDVOSB). The Small Business Administration has implemented a procurement program to enable Federal government agencies to set aside procurements for SDVOSBs in order to assist government agencies in reaching their 3% government-wide contracting goal. Freeport has implemented numerous videoconferencing, telecom, and data networks and has built high-end boardrooms, training rooms, multipurpose rooms, mock courtrooms, conference rooms and conference centers for its clients throughout the United States. In order to insure that the environment is properly designed to provide a high quality conferencing and collaboration experience and that the technology is properly integrated into the room, Freeport provides design services such as lighting design, acoustic design, and millwork design. Freeport also provides managed services to support the installed systems. |
