Multi- Domain Video Network Switch (MD-VNS)
- The Defense Intelligence Agency has approved the Freeport Multi-Domain Video Network Switch (MD-VNS) for use on the JWICS network. The Freeport MD-VNS is listed on the JWICS Core Accredited Baseline memorandum dated November 29, 2012.
- Approved security procedures are assured when using a single CODEC across networks of differing security levels
- Meets all current DISA requirements and future feature requests as detailed in the SECURITYTECHNICAL IMPLEMENTATION GUIDE (STIG) dated January 2008
- True Red/Black air gap separation and isolated grounds between networks and system components
- Redundant security measures ensures the Classified Network and associated sensitive information never touches the Unclassified Network
- Scalability - Can be configured to operate across up to 11 separate videoconference networks(9 IP, 2 optional ISDN)
- IP and ISDN capable in a single solution
- Designed for stand-alone operation or can be fully integrated into complex Conference Room implementations
- NIAP approved fiber optic isolation between multiple data networks
Secure CODEC Configurator (SCC), one required per customer network with the MD-VNS
- Configuration Capture -The capture operation saves all of the current configuration settings of the video CODEC to flash memory in the SCC. This is required because these settings will be lost during the clean operation.
- Configuration Clean - The clean operation automatically removes all potentially sensitive information from the CODEC using the Manufacturer approved process and leaves the CODEC in a factory default out of the box condition.
- Configuration Restore - The restore operation restores the settings that were saved by the capture operation plus any CODEC passwords that are saved to the SCC locally.
- Mode Settings - The SCC also has four different local mode settings that affect the way the SCC performs the above processes. They are chosen by turning the removable key located on the front of the unit or, as in the case of maintenance mode, pressing the Maintenance Mode button and choosing the SCC to turn on from the front panel of the sequencer.
- Capture
- No-Capture
- Manual Clean
- Maintenance
- CODEC Password Management - Due to the nature of CODEC password management, a password cannot be retrieved from a CODEC. When the CODEC is sanitized, the password is set back to factory default. To ensure that the proper password is being used by the CODEC, the SCC has the ability to have the password loaded to it and then restore that password into the CODEC. This feature is becoming more important with increased security procedures being implemented on many video networks.
